The Ceramic Mechanism

At the heart of our mills is a ceramic milling mechanism which utilises a 20mm funnelling cone to feed material into a fine crushing area. Ceramic is a high performance material rating extremely high on the hardness scale, resulting in a mechanism which will never lose its edge. In addition, ceramic cannot corrode making it perfect for use with salt, or any other reactive ingredients.

Available Timbers

  • Beech

    Beech

American Beechwood is one of the most dense and shock-resistant hardwoods available. It is characterized by its pale cream sapwood and warm, reddish-brown heartwood, often featuring a fine, uniform grain with tiny, distinctive silvery fleck patterns.

Known for its exceptional "wear-ability," Beech stays smooth even after years of heavy friction and use. We value it for its clean, minimalist aesthetic and its ability to withstand the rigors of a busy kitchen without splintering or wearing down. Sourced exclusively from FSC certified forests, our Beechwood represents a commitment to long-term forest health, ensuring this plentiful and sturdy resource is managed with the highest environmental integrity.
  • Walnut Stained Beech

    Walnut Stained Beech

To ensure a perfect tonal match across our collections, our darker pieces are crafted from the same high-density American Beechwood as our lighter models. By using a deep, walnut-toned stain rather than a different timber species, we are able to achieve superior consistency in grain pattern across your entire set of mills and tools.

This approach is a core part of our commitment to sustainability; by utilising the same FSC certified beechwood for multiple finishes, we significantly reduce timber wastage during production. The result is a sophisticated, dark appearance that retains all the shock-resistant and hard-wearing qualities of natural Beech, while providing a seamless aesthetic for your kitchen.
